Change The Topic And Listen To The Panorama Soundstage CD
In the height of the 2004 Carnival season Sanch has released "The
Panorama Soundstage". It is well timed. The current debate in steelband
circles is about the merits, wisdom even, of selecting Panorama finalists
through competitions by band size - small, medium and large. "The Panorama
Soundstage" indirectly addresses the controversy by presenting a mix of band
sizes playing 2003 Panorama and earlier tunes.
"The Panorama Soundstage" 2 CD set shows examples of steel orchestras
working to produce a soundstage (the apparent physical size of a musical
presentation) that is aesthetically pleasing and engaging, while
simultaneously allowing the listener to discriminate among various members
of each family of instruments. In just over two hours you can hear thirteen
different orchestras led by Exodus playing their winning 2003
Panorama rendition Pandora.
