The calypsoes of the finals of the PAN IS BEAUTIFUL VI series
[1992] represent some of the "classics' in the calypso world. You
will hear such favourites as The Hammer composed David
Rudder, Musical Volcano, composed especially for Desperadoes
by Robert Greenidge, Jericho by Lord Kitchener [Aldwyn
Roberts], The Governor's Ball by the Mighty Sparrow, Nah
Do Dat by Iwer George and three versions of Superblue's Get
Something And Wave. Some of the most brilliant playing of the
pan can be heard on these recordings, the music of which is highly
syncopated, with all sections of the orchestra playing counter
rhythms simultaneously. [Joslynne Sealey] |
